Bill Barlow
Bill Barlow’s practice focuses on mergers & acquisitions, venture capital financings, private fund formation, seed capital, and company formations. He counsels investment firms, emerging companies, and entrepreneurs on a range of matters, from initial formation to Series A and B financings to multi-million dollar exits.
Bill knows what future investors and strategic partners look for in companies. He ensures that his clients are prepared for the next step in their journey, be that a financing round or a successful exit. He has a common-sense approach that considers his clients’ commercial and legal needs.
Prior to co-founding the firm, Bill was an attorney in Debevoise & Plimpton LLP’s New York office and a member of its mergers and acquisitions group. Bill graduated from Duke University and Harvard Law School.
Bill enjoys reading, writing, and playing board games. He created the first dating-app themed board game called “Dating Pool,” which successfully launched on Kickstarter.
James David Williams
James David's practice centers on company formations, early stage investments, private fund formation, and mergers & acquisitions.
James David has a keen sense of identifying potential problems and uses this to protect businesses from pitfalls as they grow. Before co-founding the firm, James David was a law clerk to a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and practiced at Quinn Emanuel in Washington, DC, where he assisted companies under regulatory investigation, individuals accused of securities fraud, and businesses facing bet-the-company lawsuits. James David graduated from Wofford College and Harvard Law School.
James David is an avid outdoorsman and day-hiker. He has a global perspective from traveling to over forty countries. He plays basketball, curling, and disc golf and watches sports as varied as soccer and Formula 1. He is willing to read subtitles when watching a movie and can hold his own in the kitchen.
Bill and James David were in the same section at Harvard Law School and took all their first-year classes together. They even studied for finals in the library together the first semester. Five years after graduation, their paths converged again. Their combined experience with a Wall Street mergers and acquisitions practice and a Washington, DC, litigation powerhouse is a potent combination, one giving them a breadth and depth of knowledge and experience that other boutique firms cannot match.
